•More than 70% of the country’s nearly 50,000 foodservice outlets are cafés or fast-food outlets.
•Generally offering quick, affordable meals for consumers with limited disposable incomes.
•Popular cuisine including Egyptian, Mediterranean, Middle Eastern, Italian, fast food.
•Pork - no; lamb, seafood, coffee and tea - yes!
•Popular traditional casual Egyptian dishes including ta'ameya (falafel), shakshouka, fattah.
